Subject: Winsock setup help please
I know very little about Winsock. Can someone give me some help setting it up? I have
a 486 system with a 14.4K Digicom modem and am trying to setup a SLIP connection to my
work (Mead Data Central - behind a firewall) with Winsock 1.0a. I read one of the FAQ's on Winsock and it didn't seem like I would need much to set it up.
I did the following: copied all the Winsock files to C:\modem\winsock, placed this directory in my PATH statement, tried to setup TCPMAN (included below), used the manual login function and dialed into work, after connection I logged in successfully and hit escape, I then tried to startup one of the winapps (telnet) and got a message saying "inactive C:\modem\winsock\telw.exe".
I am unsure of whether I have to use a packet driver or setup some kind of SLIP program from work.
